Happy Indian Army Day

Army Day is celebrated every year on 15 January in India in honor of Field Marshal Kodandera M. Cariappa, the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army.

FM Kodandera M Cariappa (Lieutenant General) took over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army on 15 January 1949 from General F Butcher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India.

On 15 January 2021, India celebrated its 73rd Indian Army Day in New Delhi. The day is celebrated in the form of parades and other military shows in Cariappa Parade ground in Delhi cantonment.
